Invisalign® Q&A

What is Invisalign?

As a form of braces that uses a series of clear, plastic aligners to correct crooked teeth and align your bite, Invisalign offers a subtle treatment without the discomfort and aesthetic concerns of traditional braces.

Because they’re easily removable, you can take out the retainers whenever you’d like to enjoy your food of choice, brush your teeth, and floss, or if you prefer to leave them at home for a special occasion. However, you should wear your Invisalign trays for at least 20 hours a day for the most effective treatment.

What are the benefits of Invisalign?

While braces do the trick of correcting your crooked teeth and misaligned bite, many people prefer Invisalign because of the benefits it provides, such as:

  • Lack of visibility
  • Faster process than regular braces
  • Easy removal to eat or clean your teeth
  • Fewer visits to the dentist’s office
  • Less discomfort and irritation

Because you have plastic, rather than metal, in your mouth, you avoid the irritation or cuts and scrapes that you might form from wearing traditional braces.

What should I expect from Invisalign?

Whether you have crowded teeth, an overbite, an underbite, crossbite, crooked teeth, or gaps in your teeth that you want closed, the doctors at Oasis Dental Team PC can help you correct it.

When you visit Oasis Dental Team PC, Dr. Berman or Dr. Maltz-Dichter can discuss Invisalign with you and complete an evaluation of your mouth to assess any dental complications and determine the best treatment for your teeth.

Upon deciding that Invisalign is the right option for you, the doctor takes impressions of your teeth to create the right fit for your aligners. Creating a treatment plan tailored to you, they replace your Invisalign tray every couple of weeks to continue shifting your teeth into alignment.

Once you’ve reached the end of your treatment, the doctor will fit your teeth for a retainer to ensure you maintain the results of your straightened teeth.
